Prison Resettlement

History

The "Prison Liaison Project" was a community-based project which aimed to ensure that resettlement staff who had responsibility for Liverpool prisoners, had access to information and advice on services available in Liverpool.

The project worked with both men and women and took referrals to seek out accommodation and/or support packages for any prisoner returning to Liverpool and who had been sentenced to 12 months or less. Prisoners could also self-refer. Information would also be provided where sentences were longer.

The prisoner would be kept informed of progress along the way and feedback would be given to the prison on where the person had been placed and the support arranged. The package would be put together following a careful needs analysis, to ensure that the provision in each package was specific to the individual. It was noted that packages could be for accommodation and support or, where appropriate, for accommodation only, or support only.
